Resort and Hotel KeyCards Questions and Answers

        Ucard as one of the most professional keycards manufacturer in China, each year service more than 5 hundreds hotel and resorts all over the world. During this time, we meet many questions from our different customers, here we list what customers ask most for you to reference, hope that are helpful for you to choose a suitable keycards.

Questions: How much a key cards cost?

1. The cheapest one for lock system now is mag stripe cards or swipe cards, the advantages is cheaper, but the defect is not safe, it’s much easy to be copied by others, now few hotel still use mag stripe as their keycards. Now factory usually quote from USD0.025 to USD0.090/pc

2. The most common keycards now is RFID keycards,, also call contactless keycards, a chip is embedded in the card, they are not visible. This RFID keys is very smart, not only to open the door, but to get power from room, also store money to buy things in hotel market. There have lots of RFID chip models on the market and several brands lock system.  We recommend Saflok/Salto/Onity these lock systems, because they are cheaper. You know an expensive keycards will increase hotel cost each year. The RFID keys price from USD0.08 to USD0.60/pc.

Questions: is there a risk when check out to give keycards to hotel?

     There is no risk to give back the keycards to hotel when check out. Even now the hotel keycards are smart which have memory to store data, in fact, your personal information can not be stored in the chip(keys), hotel front desk only authorize this key to open the door, these data just numbers. Your personal information is stored in the lock system, not in keys. So if you want to protect your personal information, it’s better to choose a reputable hotel. Some bad hotel even you take out the keys, your personal information may still be known by others. 

Questions: a keycards is reusable?

     Yes, of course. As we explained that your personal information is not stored in the keys, so there is no risk to give back the keys to front desk when check out. Return the keys to hotel, not only help to save cost, but also eco friend to our earth. As most of key are in plastic material(PVC), which is bad to our environment, so the less consume, the better to earth. 

Questions: Where are the returned keys?

     Some guests will take away with their keys when check out, but some guests return the keys to hotel. These returned keys will be used again when next guests check in. Theoretically a keycards can be used 100 000 times. Mostly hotel will throw them when keys can not be encoded, or dirty. 

Questions: What’s the difference between brand lock systems?

     There have hundreds different lock systems are on the market, but there are only few RFID chips on the market, all of these lock systems are designed according to these RFID chip models. Because it’s easy to do a system, but it’s too complicated to design a chip. 90% hotel RFID chips come from NXP company, they are in Mifare classic 1k, Mifare Ultralight and Mifare Ultralight, saying Saflok, Kaba, Salto, Onity, Assa Abloy… all of them use these chip models.
